Dennis Diaz, CRNA

Practicing Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and founder of MyPreOp.ai. Builds and writes every clinical position on the site.

The story

Dennis spent years in private-practice anesthesia watching the same preventable problems show up on the morning of surgery — uncontrolled hypertension, a hemoglobin nobody flagged, a GLP-1 nobody held, an ASA classification that didn't match the chart. By the time those landed in the OR, the case got delayed or cancelled. The surgeon lost the day. The patient lost their prep. The ASC lost the room.

The clearance letter from the patient's PCP wasn't catching it — because a clearance letter is a non-clinical-reviewer screen, not an anesthesia review. Coordinators couldn't catch it either, for the same reason. The only person actually qualified to catch it was the anesthesia provider, and they saw the chart for the first time on the day of surgery.

MyPreOp.ai is what Dennis built to close that gap. Upload the chart, the AI cross-references conditions, medications, labs, and procedure complexity against current clinical guidelines, and a CRNA-grade verdict comes back in under 30 seconds. The provider still owns the call — the AI just stops obvious issues from reaching the OR by surprise.

Every clinical position on this site comes from Dennis's bedside practice and the platform's open validation study of 475+ real clearances. If you want to see how he thinks about specific cases, the Field Notes are the running log.
